Rear Pivoting Feed System

The extraordinary design of this feed system uses mechanical leverage to provide unlimited down pressure on the feed roller. This down pressure system allows the feed wheel to utilize optimum torque, which in turn prevents the teeth from slipping on the material. This results in a more successful feed. The rear pivoting feed wheel design is so efficient that it eliminates the need for down pressure springs and allows Woodsman to use a single feed wheel to efficiently and effectively feed all types of material.

Feed Wheel Assist Cylinder

This is a great feature that is standard on all Woodsman chippers. Our hydraulic lift cylinder is designed to use down pressure to break limbs and crotches. It has lifting power to assist operators when feeding large diameter, short pieces of wood. The feed wheel lift handles are located on both sides of the infeed, making this component easily accessible and user friendly.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Bottom Drop Door

Our bottom drop door is in place to make interior inspection easier for owners and operators. This door increases safety when working on the machine by providing easy access to the chipper anvil. The anvil can be easily adjusted by one person and, as a safety feature, does not require that you enter the chipper feed area.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Discharge Chute Inspection Door

This door allows the operator convenient access to the discharge area, making inspection and debris removal easier.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Main Frame

Woodsman chippers are solidly mounted on tubular steel frames for extra strength. The frame rails extend underneath the feed tables, giving additional support in the area of the chipper where the majority of work takes place.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Battery Compartment

Our lockable battery compartment is conveniently located for access. This makes any necessary maintenance faster and easier.
Woodsman Chippers Features

O-Ring Face Seal Hoses

Woodsman uses a hydraulic system which includes O-ring face seal hoses. These ensure a clean, leak-free hydraulic system.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Double Ended Pigtail

We use a double ended pigtail to connect the chipper brakes and lights to your vehicle. Where the old style wiring required that the entire assembly be replaced when damaged, the double ended pigtail makes repair more convenient if there is damage done to the wire lead. This system only requires a simple plug and replacement instead of completely rewiring the assembly.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Double Spherical Roller Bearing

Woodsman chippers use a large, double spherical roller bearing, which attaches to the shaft by use of a taper locking adapter sleeve. This ensures a good fit 360 degrees around the shaft, versus the set screw style that locks tight against the shaft in only two places.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Feed Wheel Drive

The Woodsman chipper feed wheel is controlled by a drive motor on either side, thus eliminating the need for a variety of bearings, bushings, chains, and sprockets. This simplified design means fewer parts replacements and less maintenance for the operator.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Fuel and Hydraulic Tank

All fuel and hydraulic tanks on Woodsman chippers are equipped with lockable filler caps and sight gauges.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Yoke Lock

These manual locks are used to hold the yoke in place. They can be used to assist in cleaning the infeed area.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Height Adjustable Discharge Chute

The discharge chute on all Woodsman chippers can be easily adjusted at three different settings. This is a convenient feature which allows the chips to discharge at the proper height of the operator’s trailer.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Auto Feed Speed Governor

The auto feed speed governor monitors engine RPMs and activates when the RPMs fall below recommended engine operating levels while chipping large diameter wood. This feature will momentarily stop the feed wheel from pulling material into the chipper until the engine RPM's regain proper levels. It then restarts the feed wheel once proper operating levels are reached. The auto feed speed governor is standard on our Models 730, 750, and 770 chippers (with the Auto feed SUPREME (reversing) available as an option). The Auto feed SUPREME is standard on all units from the Model 790 and larger.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Plug-and-Play Electrical System

Woodsman uses plug-and-play technology on all our chippers that not only reflects a very clean appearance, but simplifies maintenance as well.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Wide Feed Wheels

Our feed wheel is the same width as the chipper infeed throat. This feature not only provides a smooth feed, but assists with a complete cut of the material from the solid knife pocket that is also the same width. Our entire feed system works together!
Woodsman Chippers Features

Full Knife Pocket

The knife pockets on Woodsman Chippers extend the full width of the drum. This feature provides a complete cut of the wood as it is being fed through the chipper.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Rubber Infeed Curtain

Woodsman hand-fed-chippers come standard with a protective rubber infeed curtain located in front of the feed system.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Hydraulic System

Our hydraulic system features live hydraulics that allow you to operate your hydraulic features without the clutch being engaged on the engine.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Forestry Style Discharge

All Woodsman biomass chippers are built with our unique forestry style discharge chute that will allow you to completely pack your chip trailer. This discharge comes equipped with a hydraulic flipper.
Woodsman Chippers Features

Removable Taillight Bar

The removable taillight bar on our biomass units allow you to remove the taillights from the chipper once you have parked the chipper at the chipping site. This eliminates damage to the lights from trees or branches.
